Cans
Whole and/crushed aluminum cans are acceptable. We prefer that you keep other types of aluminum scrap and foil separated for faster service.

Copper
Very simply, there are two common grades of bare copper.

  1. #1 copper is 16 gauge (determined by each individual strand) or larger. It must have no solder, varnish, heavy corrosion or tin.
  2. #2 copper can have some solder, paint, etc., but no iron or other metal attached. Tubing and solids should be kept separate from wire. We also buy insulated wire based on the percentage of recoverable copper.

Brass
There are many different types of brass or bronze. At American Recycling Corp., we buy them all. Red brass contains more copper, therefore it is worth more than yellow brass. For the best price, they should be sorted by yellow and red and be free of contamination. We can buy contaminated or mixed brass, but the price will be determined by the percentage of brass recovered and cleaning time involved.

Aluminum
There are many different types and grades of aluminum. We buy them all. To improve the value of your aluminum scrap, try to keep cast and sheet separate, as well as your clean and contaminated material. The price for contaminated or mixed aluminum will be determined by the percentage of aluminum recovered and the cleaning time involved.

Other Items
Check around the house and garage for other items that are recyclable. Some examples are:

  • Aluminum cans, pie plates etc.
  • Lawn mowers
  • Car bodies
  • Aluminum lawn chairs, ladders, screen doors
  • Copper wire and pipe
  • Sheet metal, appliances etc.

Your “junk” can pay you cash . . . if it’s made of metal we probably take it!
